The Formosae Dendrobium (Often Called the Nigro-hirsute) Group

This group of species and hybrids has cane-like pseudobulbs with black hairs on the leaf sheaths at least when the pseudobulbs are young. Species in this group include Den. bellatulum, Den. christyanum (margaritaceum), Den. dearei, Den. draconis, Den. formosum, Den. infundibulum, Den. lowii, and Den. schuetzii.

Almost all species have white flowers - Den. lowii with yellow or orange flwoers is the exception

Most species grow under intermediate conditions - infundibulum, scabrilingue, sanderae need somewhat cooler conditions

Water thoroughly when growing, giving short dry rest when growth is complete - do not let canes shrivel
