Show in a Box
This Zip file (12.5mb) provides tools for orchid societies to have their own orchid show. It contains all of the necessary forms, letters, flyers, timelines and even a plant entry database! All you need to do is replace names, places and dates with those pertaining to your own event. How easy is that?
Show in a Box was created by Dennis Dayan and the Deep Cut Orchid Society and serves well to walk new show chairs and committees through the process of putting on a successful orchid show. Even veteran society members will find useful documents that will make them wonder, "How come I didn't think of that?"
These tools are designed to run on Microsoft Windows platform using programs found in Microsoft Office. Microsoft Access is the data base program used to organize the show and for plant entries (ribbon judging). Excel worksheets can easily be imported into Access making it easy to enter plants from participating Societies and Vendors as well as other exhibitors you may have.
Microsoft Publisher is a very easy, basic publishing program and can be used to make many of the forms necessary to your Show. MS Word, Access and Excel are the other programs needed. The Show Schedule may easily be altered for your particular show, season and geographical location. It should be altered both in the plant entry program (Access) and for publishing and distribution (Word).
