When not volunteering for the American Orchid Society as a photographer, Arnold Gum is a patent attorney for Qualcomm. At Qualcomm, Arnold also played a pioneering role in evangelizing and driving GPS capability into modern cell phones. Besides photography, Arnold also grows an assortment of plant genera including orchids (obviously), Epiphyllum, Agave, Aloe and Echinopsis, raises tropical fish and manages an oceanfront vacation rental on the Big Island of Hawaii. Arnold has four degrees including a B.S./M.S. in Electrical Engineering from Stanford, an M.S. in Psychology from Colorado State and a J.D. from University of San Diego.
