America to Ecuador ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Manual de Plantas de Costa Rica mentions the existence of a natural hybrid of the species with Epidendrum flexuosum ( imatophyllum) . I have included a drawing . The man made hybrid is known as Epidendrum Irazú While Epidendrum baumannianum is described as orange, resupinate . lip 'lacinado' the best way my mind processes that Spanish word is with small , thin , irregular frills, straight column while the hybrid is described as 'morado' (purple) and non resupinated.
