Typical flowering - plant (all growths) typically has 1-2 open flowers open at a time, produced sequentially throughout the year. In the weeks before judging, all growths began producing buds/flowers including one growth with one mature flower, one just opening and one bud at the time of judging. This is the first time I've seen this in the 3 years I've grown the plant.
'Juvenile' growths (those present when I purchased the plant) have a significantly different appearance and habit - very short stem, upright lanceolate leaf - whereas 'mature' growths have stem to 23cm and pendant, cordate leaf strongly folded at the top to form a hood over the floral sheath. When repotting this spring, I confirmed that this isn't two different plants & the type drawing shows similar http://www.epidendra.org/taxones/Pleurothallis/Pleurothallis%20diabolica/#
