It was pioneered and evaluated by the Houston Orchid Society (HOS) in 2012. Since then, the Kids Corner idea has been picked up by Girl Scout Troops as part of the Scout Interest Project.

The goals of a Kids Corner are to engage children at orchid shows and educate them about orchids. It is easy to set up a Kids Corner requiring only a table, a few volunteers, and some or all the activities listed below.

After the success of the Kids Corner at HOS show, AOS Education Committee member Sandy Stubbings wrote a series of articles explaining how to set up the various activities.
