Malcolm McCorquodale enjoys growing Orchids and has been the Awards Photographer at the Houston Judging Center since January of 2008. Malcolm enjoys taking photos of awarded Orchids because, not only are the flowers beautiful, but they are recognized as superior by experienced orchid growers. Malcolm also enjoys growing Bromeliads, Begonias and Ferns.

Orchid flowers are ephemeral. A good photograph preserves what the judges saw long after the flower has faded and allows those that were not present to appreciate the flower. Good orchid photography is documentary photography, but with an eye to art. The eye toward art turns a good photograph into a great photograph.
