This plant fits the parameters of D. lasiocampa and matches images in the IOSPE, OW, and orchidroots.com and Luer's line drawing in the IOSPE. The tubular, long, pubescent floral bract can be seen in the dissection photo. The length of the floral bract is a major characteristic that separates several of the species, whether longer or shorter than the pedicel or ovary.

Two interestingly weird flowers on two inflorescences; plant small growing on a piece of cork 8cm wide x 8cm long with sphagnum moss, epiphytic, caespitose, slender roots; ramicauls green, horizontal to suberect, stout, 0.2cm wide x 3cm long, enclosed by three pilose, imbricating sheaths; leaf light green suffused purple beneath, erect in relationship to the ramicaul, fleshy, verruculose, covered on both sides by long, white trichomes, elliptical, obtuse, 2cm wide x 3cm long; inflorescence a succession of single flowers, borne on a erect peduncle1.5cm long with a basal sheath 0.5cm long at the base of the leaf; dorsal sepal translucent yellow-green, diffusely spotted purple, five veined, covered externally by a long, white pubescence, clavate tip yellow-orange, ovate-triangular, acute, acuminate, clavellate; lateral sepals translucent yellow-green heavily spotted purple, covered externally by a long, white pubescence, connate to the apex into a deeply concave, obtuse, scaphoid synsepal, 1.6cm expanded measurement; petals translucent with purple spots, minutely pubescent, clavate tip yellow-orange, obovate below the middle, apex acute, long-acuminate; lip light green stippled purple, pandurate, apical lobe ovate, minutely pubescent, apex rounded, apiculate, obovate below the narrow isthmus, lateral lobes thin, uncinate, erect, hinged to the column-foot; column 0.1cm wide x 0.5cm long, yellow-green, slender, semiterete, winged at the bidentate apex; ovary green, densely long-pubescent, 2.5cm long; substance firm; texture glossy; species from Ecuador; awarded for rarity, novelty and educational value; species from Ecuador; information from Icones Pleurothallidinarum #27, pages 278, 281; ID by SIFT_____________________.
