Maxillaria-donaldeedodii-2021-11-29 *SITF has confirmed this plant as Maxillaria donaldeedodii (Jan 2023); this species is different in growth and flower habit than the similar M. coccinea; the plant and flower habit of this plant does not match M. coccinea; M. coccinea has much longer, larger foliage and often produces flowers in clusters, whereas M. donaldeedodii bears single flowered inflorescences as does this plant; an article by Tom Mirenda and Ron McHatton in the April 2015 AOS "Orchids" magazine shows comparison images between M. donaldeedodii and other similar Maxillaria; this plant matches that image of M. donaldeedodii.*
