At the request Julio David Rios, Chair of the Puerto Rico Judging Center I am submitting for verification the following species: Tolumnia prionochila (Kraenzl.) Braem, Orchidee (Hamburg) 37: 58 (1986). At the Saint Croix Orchid Society Show held April 20, 2018 a cultivar of this species, was granted an 82 points CHM/AOS and was given the cultivar name ‘Peter A’. Award was assigned number 20186379. Nomenclature Record: Tolumnia prionochila (Kraenzl.) Braem, Orchidee (Hamburg) 37: 58 (1986). Homotypic Synonyms: * Oncidium prionochilum Kraenzl. in H.G.A.Engler (ed.), Pflanzenr., IV, 50(80): 233 (1922). * Basionym/Replaced Synonym Notes: • Species is being referred to SITF per the Handbook. • Per WCSPF Natural Distribution: Puerto Rico to Virgin Islands Measurements: See attached image. Description: Eighteen cadmium yellow flowers and one bud clustered distally on 3 up to 75 cm inflorescences, and 4 buds on an immature inflorescence; plant grown vertically on a driftwood log; growth habit stoloniferous; leaves conduplicate, coriaceous, finely serrulate margins, 6.5 cm long by 1.2cm wide; sepals and petals lightly blotched chestnut; lip tri-lobed, midlobe dentate on margin, side lobes blotched very light chestnut proximally; column winged, anther cap blushed very light chestnut; substance firm; texture crystalline; this cultivar of a seldom exhibited species was commended for its superior form and bright color; per WCSPF species is native to Puerto Rico and the Virgin (Leeward) Islands; awarded as Tolumnia prionochila (Kraenzl.) Braem, Orchidee (Hamburg) 37: 58 (1986) pending SITF identification.
