Overview
Trailing terrestrials rooting at the base of loosely organized erect growths separated by elongate rhizome segments. Leaves few, erect, long-petiolate. Inflorescences of solitary flowers borne on emerging new growth. Sepals and petals free, spreading. Lip three-lobed, tubular, extended at the base in an elongate nectar spur. Column straight; pollinia two, granular, each on a prominent caudicle.
Etymology
Dedicated to W. Hancock, a botanical collector who gathered plants in Yunnan, China.
Distribution
A monotypic genus native to China, Japan and Vietnam.

Grow Hancockias in shallow bulb pans to accomodate the trailing rhizome. Use a standard terrestrial medium, keep evenly moist, give medium to low light levels, and provide intermediate temperatures.
