Care and Culture Card
See basic growing conditions and care information below.
Grow plants of Miltoniopsis in shallow pots of medium-grade epiphyte mixture. Provide medium light levels, cool-intermediate temperatures, high humidity and regular watering throughout the year. Low humidity frequently results in “accordion growth” where the new growths are deformed by transverse folding. Repot the plants only after the appearance of new roots associated with emerging new growth. Plants without healthy root systems should not be allowed to bloom as the drain typically kills the plant. Plants of Miltoniopsis have been called “cool-growing Miltonias” but neither require nor thrive in truly cool conditions. Most significant in their cultivation is avoiding extended warm temperatures.
