The plant was a gift from Ecuagenera in 2016 or so. When it was awarded the flowers were open but as it sat at a warmer temperature and lower humidity they closed shut. This is typical behavior for the plant. The photographer was only able to capture a partially open flower. When the judges saw it it was displayed with damp moss in a bale jar so the flower were fully open.
