Distribution: (Dutch) New Guinea (Sch)
Habitat:
[not given]
Similar species: Smith, 1911a expresses the opinion that this species,
more or less, occupies a transition position between the sections Sestochilus
and Monanthaparva with closer affinities to the former. Various features
suggest, to him, relationships with B. pahudii Rchb.f., B.
binnendijkii J.J. Sm. and B. uniflorum Hassk.
* Note: A plant in the author’s
collection is undoubtedly this species but has dimensions for the inflorescence
and floral segments which are quite different from those given by Smith. The peduncle is up to 20.0 l., the dorsal sepal 2.6 x 0.8, the lateral
sepals 2.6 x 0.95, the petal very glandular-papillose towards apex, 0.6 x 0.3,
the lip surface papillose, margins and lateral ridges spinous towards base, 0.5
x 0.19, and the stelidia finger-like, obtuse with a small slightly bifid tooth
along the upper margin and a low rounded wing lateral to the stigma.
Bulbophyllum giriwoense , award number 20124311 , has been confirmed to be Bulbophyllum  lorentzianum by SITF (July 2012), with assistance of Doris Jensen.Â
