Bulbophyllum

Finding

SITF has determined this plant to be Bulbophyllum ericssonii (Sep 2026). This identity was most likely caused by a mistake in names between B. viridescens, a species which is not umbellate, and B. virescens which is synonymous with B. ericssonii and which is umbellate, as is this plant. The photo of B. ericssonii on the IOSPE is a close match to this plant in color and form. Also, there are almost 50 images by different photographers closely matching this plant.

Plant is not Bulb. viridescens. The pictures of Bulb. viridescens in Bulbophyllum of Borneo [BB], J.J. Vermeulen is raceme not subumbellate as in award picture. With a little research, I found a similar several awarded clones in AOS OrchidPro as Bulb. ericssonii. Attached are three pictures, Bulb. viridescens 'Rainbow' (the clonal grex that is being contested), a copy of the three pictures of Bulb. viridescens in BB, and a picture of one of the awarded clones, 'Windflower', of Bulb. ericssonii.
