Cattasetum spittleri Jenny.
At the CPO Moyobamba Show held October 29, 2015 an albiflora form of Cattasetum spittleri Jenny was granted an 83-point CHM and was granted the clonal name ‘Facundo’. Award was assigned number 20151801.
Taxonomic Notes:
·         Cattasetum spittleri ‘Facundo’, CHM/AOS was provisionally verified by resident taxonomist Ricardo Fernández and it is being referred to SITF per the Handbook.
·         Species description was published in the March 2015 issue of Orchids and at the time of the granting of the awardthe name was not listed in the WCSPF or in IPNI.
·         Species is endemic to Peru.

Description:Â
Seventeen flowers on a 73 cm arched inflorescence; flowers emerge 30 cm from the base of the inflorescence and are distributed at irregular intervals; ovoid pseudobulbs swollen 16.5 cm long x 5.0 cm wide; seven elliptic-lanceolate leaves per bulb, entire margins, 22.5 cm long x 5.2 cm wide; flower bracts triangular and narrow; sepals and petals light creamy green; fleshy, deeply saccate lip creamy white, long, thin, curved fringes marginally; erect, clavate column and anther cap light creamy green; substance firm; texture waxy; albiflora form of a recently described species endemic to Peru; initial determination as Catasetum spittleri made by Ricardo Fernández; pending final determination by SITF.
