Challenge-to-Cattleya-harrisoniana-(8-awards)-2018-01-19These cultivars are determined to be possible hybrids with loddigesii (Jul 2022); Because of introgressive swarms in the loddigessii-harrisoniana complex and line breeding of these cultivars, there is no way to know if these plants are pure C. harrisoniana; C. loddigesii may be in the background to varying degrees from areas of overlap and also because C. loddigesii and C. harrisoniana were at one time considered to be the same species.

These 8 awards have been officially contested. The assertion is that these are not species due to the incorrect lip and the lateral sepals are all straight along the margins, not bowed. They are showing evidence of loddigesii in their breeding somewhere, likely due to harrisoniana once being considered as a variety of loddigesii.
