Cymbidium parishii 'Reverend Charles' CHM 2025-05-26

Posted on May 26, 2025

Finding
SITF confirms this plant as Cymbidium parishii (Mar 2026). Although considered rare, this plant matches the characteristics of Cym. parishii. It is somewhat similar to Cym. sanderae, however, this is Cym. parishii. Cym. sanderae produces a pseudobulb that is globose to egg-shape and the inforescences arise from the very bottom of the bulb. Cym. parishii forms an elongated spindle-shaped to barely fusiform bulb almost like a cane. In addition, the inflorescences arise from the side of the pseudobulb, two or more leaves above the base. C. parishii inflorescences are also rarely more than two-flowered, while those of C. sanderae are many flowered in the manner of C. insigne. C. parishii flowers have a wide range of color/lip variability with other consistent features like the calli, and the intensity of deep yellow color and magenta spotting or blotching.
