Original description: One‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌ flower and three buds on four inflorescences to 12 cm; sepals triangulate, margins undulate, butter yellow, spotted and edged burgundy, tricomes golden, caudae to 12 cm, burgundy; petals minute, white, tips spotted black; lip cupped, hinged, interior finely ridged, ivory, exterior flushed coral; substance thin, texture matte.John Leathers visited my greenhouse today (10/24/26), saw the plant in bloom, and said he thinks that it is D. chiroptera rather than D. wallisii. In looking at prior awards to chiroptera and also looking at the paintings from Thesaurus Dracularum (attached) for both species I think that John is correct. The plant was originally purchased from Ecuagenera as D. hirtzii which is clearly incorrect.
