Finding
SITF has determined this plant to be Dryadella simula, not D. elata (Mar 2025). A previous award determined by SITF, with the help of Alphonse Doucette, to be D. simula, closely matches this flower. The lip of this flower greatly enlarged does not appear dentate as in D. elata. In Luer's original description of elata, Luer says D. elata is distinguished by its hooked petals, denticulate lip margin and well-developed secondary stems. This flower fits the form and markings of D. simula better than D. elata. Supporting photos can be seen in the IOSPE and orchidroots.com.
