Morphological Differences:
Epidendrum catillus: Flower Color Bright red to vibrant violet-red; often with a contrasting white and yellow central lip area. Lip Shape Deeply 3-lobed; the margins of the lobes are highly crenulate (wavy) to lacerate (fringed/torn-looking). Callus Structure Bears a large, irregularly shaped, mostly white central tubercule accompanied by two small colored calli at the column apex. Floral Segments: Sepals are oblong and grow up to 1.5 cm (0.6 in) long; petals are slightly smaller.

Epidendrum vinosum: Pale, wine-colored (vinous) or dark purplish-red flowers. LIp: Shaped distinctly like a three-cornered hat; the lateral lobes are retrorse (pointing backward). Callus: Features a very large, prominent white callus that physically covers the majority of the mid-lobe. Sepals and petals are roughly 1.7 cm (0.68 in) long, oblong, with distinctly obtuse to sub-truncate (blunt) apices.
