Forty-one flowers and 18 buds on three pendulous inflorescences up to 45cm that emerge from the base of leafless, ribbed pseudobulbs; plant’s circumference 60 cm; three new pseudobulbs carry a pair of plicate 37cm x 11cm each; plant grown in a 20cm wire basket; sepals and petals base color light cream-green maculated and barred dark burgundy-red; dorsal sepal elliptic, lateral sepals triangular to ovate, acute; petals sigmoid, ligulated that end in threads; lip base color cream some yellow blotches, epichile with two horn-like extensions, a prominent, triangular, basal aperture between the extensions, overlaid light yellow-green heavily spotted maroon; hypochile mottled burgundy; substance firm; texture mate; per WCSPF natural distribution from Costa Rica to Panamá; awarded as Gongora gibba Dressler, Orquideologia 7: 72 (1972), preliminary determination made by • Franco Pupulin, who was present at the judging, made a preliminary determination (pending SITF verification) as to the id of the species.
