Finding
SITF has determined this plant to be Rhynchostylis retusa, not R. rieferi (Oct 2026). The leaves are unequally bilobed, not mucronate, which is characteristic of R, retusa. A very good reference: https://journals.flvc.org/selbyana/article/view/122966/121934 has a key, drawings, discussion, and comparison chart that compares R. gigantea, R. rieferi, and R. retusa. Using the table in the reference: R. retusa has the lIp not 3-lobed, tip pointed down, and spur rounded, not truncated. This plant matches these characteristics. Also, using the key in the reference: Key 2' goes to 4, which corresponds to R. retusa.
