This plant or some version of it has been awarded at Cali before, but I suspect under a different name or maybe we could not get Ortiz to commit to a name so it was never awarded.
I think it is Stelis purpurea or at least something like it http://orchid.unibas.ch/phpMyHerbarium/308288.1/1/Stelis/purpurea/Ruiz_Lopez_Hipolito_Pavon_Jose_Antonio/Willdenow_Carl_Ludwig_von/specimen.php
the trouble is that we are going to have to be careful as if you look at the SOF site there are clearly to species depcted there. Â Our job is to figure out which one is correct.
Stelis lindenii, award 20126332, has been confirmed to be Stelis maxima by SITF
(July 2013). Please add to the description that is was awarded as Stelis
lindenii and that SITF felt it fit the parameters of Stelis allenii, which is
considered a synonym of Stelis maxima.
