Cattleya forbesii fma alba 2024-03-26

Posted on March 26, 2024

Finding
SITF has determined this plant to be Cattleya forbesii f. aurea, not f. alba (Jul 2024). Forma aurea is a validly published subspecies of Cattleya forbesii and matches the description of aurea. Cattleya forbesii f. alba is a pure white with only yellow markings in the throat. There are at least two prior awards to that form. Cattleya forbesii f. aurea was described as green or yellow-green sepals and petals with yellow or orange markings in the throat. The difference between the type form and f. aurea is the lack of the brown overlay.
