Finding
SITF determined this plant was an unidentified species in Feb 2022. SITF received new information that a communication had been found by the exhibitor that was sent from the late Carl Luer (May 2008). Based on plant samples sent to Carl Luer and Lisa Thoerle, this plant was correctly identified as Lepanthes monitor. That communication was just recently found and the identification forwarded to SITF. This plant matches the line drawing and description of L. monitor by Luer in the Icones Pleurothallidinarum XIV. Supporting photos of L. monitor can be found in the IOSPE and orchidroots.com. Color of this species appears variable.
