Dr. Tatiana Arias is Executive and Scientific Director of Orchids for Peace, a foundation dedicated to conserving Neotropical orchids and their habitats through community-based conservation in Colombia. She is also an Associate Professor of Genetics at Universidad de las Américas (Quito, Ecuador) and a Research Associate at Marie Selby Botanical Gardens. Her research focuses on the phylogenomics, population genomics, and conservation biology of Neotropical orchids, particularly the subtribe Pleurothallidinae. She holds a PhD in Biological Sciences, has authored more than 30 peer-reviewed publications, and received the TWAS Young Scientists Prize in Biology in 2017. Through Orchids for Peace, she leads orchid ecotourism expeditions to Colombia that fund biodiversity protection and support local communities. Dr. Arias shares her research and field experience through outreach and educational programs that engage others in orchid conservation.
