December 2016
Andrew Coghill discusses the genus Clowesia, its inter- and intrageneric hybrids and how to grow them in a thorough thoughtfully written feature. Once considered to be part of the genus Catasetum, this group of species produces perfect flowers (both male and female features in the same flower) as opposed to the single-sex flowers of Catasetum and passes this trait to its hybrids. The genus Fredclarkeara owes many of its incredible features to the Clowesia species in the background. The December issue also features a Collectors Item installment by Brenda Oviatt and Bill Nerison on Angraecum infundibulare and, continuing our tradition, a selection of the best pictures submitted to our Photograph of the Week web feature from 2016 is presented.
