Robert Fuchs discusses the beautiful orchid-related art exhibit where the AOS, in collaboration with Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden, private collectors and contemporary artists, will showcase many fine examples of orchid-themed art and rare books in an exhibition opening May 12, 2017, in the Adam R. Rose & Peter R. McQuillan Arts Center. The exhibition will run through June 14, 2017 and will be open to all visitors to the Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden. After the main exhibition closes, AOS plans to continue to display selected pieces from the collection in the new AOS Library at Fairchild. Also in this issue, Rudolf Jenny tells us about a rare orchid Iconography and it's relationship to a famous European Institution, Sue Bottom discusses improvement of species through the use of sib-crossings and selfings and Chuck McCartney takes us on a journey back in time to the 1940s and 1950s and the orchids he grew up with as a child in Homestead, Florida.
