In this issue, Dr. Courtney Hackney surveys the development of blue cattleyas, what makes the "blue" and modern breeding trends. Franco Pupulin and Diego Bogarín discuss the orchids of the Talamanca shores of Costa Rica and Norbert Dank takes us on an armchair adventure to McBean's Nursery. Founded in 1879 McBean's, one of the world's oldest orchid nurseries, is yet another orchid nursery unable to survive the economics of the modern orchid world and has now closed its doors.  And, David Rosenfeld fills us in on Wilhelm Micholitz, intrepid plant collector.Rounding out this month's issue: Franco Pupulin discusses Aspasia psitticina, Tom Mirenda exposes us to the genus Corybas (likely not something many of us will get to see in person) and Sue Bottom reveals some of her best (or worst) examples of cattleya leaf spotting fungi in the first of two parts on a subject that many might  not want to talk about - the dreaded fungi!  Last, but certainly not least, Jean Allen-Ikeson discusses using inverted clay pots as orchid mounts - not in it - on it.
