Summary
This talk is on the Greek island of Kythira. It is situated between the southern tip of the Peloponnese peninsula and Crete. Botanically it is most fascinating: though it is only 273 km2, it houses around 1000 plant species of which at least 55 are orchids. I will guide you through this typically Mediterranean vegetation type island, show you some exquisite botanical highlights and will give you some insights into the stunning orchid genus Ophrys.
