Finding
SITF confirms this plant as Bulbophyllum karenkoensis (Aug 2025). B. karenkoensis has two varieties: var. calvum and var. puniceum. The term calvum means "Bald" and refers to the absence of hairs on the lateral sepals of this variety. There are short, sparse hairs on the lateral sepals of this flower, which would make this plant either var. puniceum or an intervarietal form between the two varieties, but not var. calvum. This plant is also very similar to the 2018 Awarded Bulbophyllum karenkoensis var. puniceum 'Fran'.
