SITF confirms this plant as Gongora claviodora (Oct 2025). Based on Rudolf Jenny's book, The Genus Gongora, this matches G. claviodora. This species is characteristically dark red with a velvety surface to the labellum basally, but becoming smooth at the base and the inside of the sepals also being velvety. The sketch of the lip, which seems to be the only visual drawing or photo in the book, appears to match. The description mentions more flowers on a bit shorter inflorescence, but this could be a cultural issue. This plant matches the form well, especially in the lip and matches color well, although some pictures of this species are not quite as solid red.
