Coelogyne palawanensis 'Irene' CHM 2026-02-15

Finding
SITF confirms this plant as Coelogyne palawanensis (Aug 2026). This plant was identified with the gracious assistance of Dr. Barbara Gravendeel, an international authority on the Genus Coelogyne, and her associate Dr. Jacob Kruizinga, both of Leiden University, Netherlands. There were no other species "matching the morphology of the labellum and keels more closely than Coelogyne palawanensis Ames. This plant had (almost) all flowers open at the same time so we would describe this as synanthous, just as in the description of the species in Orchid Monographs Volume 6, pg. 41-42 and Dudley Clayton’s book on Coelogyne." The images on both IOSPE and orchidroots.com match this flower very well. There may be some minor differences, but the characteristics are well within the range of species variability.
