Cyrtochilum-detortum-2020-03-01***Confirmed as Cyrtochilum detortum (Jun 2020); it is nearly an exact match to the photo in Dodson's Native Ecuadorian Orchids, Vol. IV; determination also based on the encircling ruffled petals and distinctive callus and a good match to the illustration by Dunsterville & Garay in the SOF; there is also a very good matching photo in the IOSPE; the drawing in SOF shows C. detortum with three apical leaves (top of the pseudobulb, which matches this plant, most other Cyrtochilum have only one apical leaf; the lateral sepals are described as unguiculate as are these and the description indicates an acuminate column with two teeth that are clearly visible in the dissected lip; these species produce new growths at the ends of long internodes.***
