Dendrobium farmeri Paxton, Paxton's Mag. Bot. 15: 241 (1849).This name is accepted.
20141027 Â National capital
from the chair-
One thousand two hundred sixty-two flowers on 42 inflorescences and one immature inflorescence on a spectacular, densely flowered 35-cm. x 46-cm. plant, with immaculate leaves, grown in a 32-cm. basket; sepals and petals white; heavily fringed lip crystalline white with a central deep yellow disk; substance soft; texture of crystalline.
NOTES: The identification was questioned because the flowers do not have the characteristic pink spot in the lip, and one judge suggested it might be Den. palpebrae. My reading suggests it is Den. farmeri because of the bloom time if nothing else. However, since it was questioned, we need the experts’ opinions for its identification.
Dendrobium farmeri, award 20141027, has been confirmed to be Dendrobium farmeri by SITF (may 2015).Â
