Dendrobium wenzelii 2022-07-17
Posted on July 17, 2022
Finding
SITF confirmed this as Dendrobium wenzelii (Jul 2022); D. wenzelii is heavily branched, 4-10 cm high with 1.2 x 0.5 cm triangular leaves and more or less singular flowers from the apex of the growths; a key characteristic is the presence of reduced, orange leaves at the top of the cane from which the flowers are produced; this plant measured somewhat higher, but otherwise in close range the photos show the diminished, glossy orange leaves on the blooming canes which match the description; a good match to the photo in the IOSPE; two photos in OW are in error and are of Ddc. wenzelii.
