SITF confirms this plant is Encyclia altissima (Mar 2025). Using Ackerman's key to the Encyclia of the Greater Antilles, this keys to E. altissima. 1 - Flowers are chasmogamous; 3 - Lip is distinctly tri-lobed; the side lobes wing-like; 5 - Plants caespitose; 6 - Pseudobulbs fusiform; - not short and ovoid. Baker & Baker's description in the OW described this species. One of the characteristics mentioned was the white column streaked with purple, elongate, with earlike appendages that are membranaceous, incurved, and rounded as in this plant. This species appears to have very variable color.
