Masdevallia mezae Luer, Phytologia 44: 166 (1979).
At the CPO Moyobamba Show held October 29, 2015 a clone of: Masdevallia mezae, was granted an 80-point CHM and was granted the clonal name ‘Mardely’. Award was assigned number 20151808.

Six flowers and seven buds on seven erect inflorescences up to 24 cms long, three immature inflorescences; plant 25 cm x 29 cm grown on tree fern fiber in a 12cm plastic pot; flowers light creamy green; sepals heavily spotted light mahogany centrally, caudae overlaid orange; petals overlaid mahogany; lip spotted mahogany centrally coalescing to solid margins and darker apical margins; substance firm; texture matte; dorsal caudae 4.2 cm long, lateral caudae 3.4 cm;  per WCSPF species endemic to Peru; awarded as Masdevallia mezae Luer, Phytologia 44: 166 (1979), provisionally verified by resident taxonomist Ricardo Fernández pending final determination by SITF.
