This plant is a perfect match for Ophrys heldreichii in Pierre Delforge's "Orchids of Europe, North Africa, and the Middle East", 2006. The lip measurements for this plant are within the parameters detailed in both Buttler's and Williams' field guides, as well as fits the key in Buttler.

Two flowers and three buds on one 19-cm inflorescence on a 23.2-cm tall plant with a 6.5-cm basal rosette; sepals rose-pink, slightly cupped, midvein on reverse showing through to front; petals darker rose-pink overlaid purple on upper margins; lip trilobed, side lobes accuminate, brown, hirsute, midlobe strongly recurved light yellow, intricately overlaid dark brown, solid distally, basally light brown disc; column cream; anther cap green; texture sepals and petals crystalline, lip finely hirsute; substance sepals and petals medium, lip firm.
