Finding
SITF has determined this plant not to be Restrepia tabeae (Jul 2026). The column is not greenish white as is the description of R. tabeae, the shape is different and petals are not down swept as is R. tabeae. Also, there are some differences in dorsal sepal. The plant may likely be Restrepia contorta based on a suggested ID by Alfonso Doucette, but several other options are possible, including R. elegans and R. guttata or possibly even an unknown hybrid. There are sufficient differences in each that precludes an absolute identification. Also, there is great variability in Restrepia species with changes in form and color from environmental influences, like heat and humidity.
