Vanda nana Hanni Kunz HCC CHALLENGE 2024-12-17
Posted on December 17, 2024
Finding
SITF has determined this plant is not Vanda nana, but is probably an unknown hybrid (Jan 2025). The lip and column of this flower are inconsistent with the species, V. nana, as are its described leaf length and shape, which are also inconsistent. The flower form and lack of a visible spur does not agree with Ascocentrum pusillum (Syn. with V. nana). The spur of V. nana is longer than the lip blade, curved down and against the ovary and then expanded into an almost globular extension. In addition, the lip is much more fleshy and without prominent side lobes. The leaves are much more terete than those of V. nana.
