Summary
The island of New Guinea is the largest tropical island in the world. It is considered the distribution point for Dendrobiums and has over half the sections in this genus represented. Using the topography of the island as a guide, we see the tropical lowlands, coastal mountains, highland plateaus, and finally, cloud forest habitat and the dendrobiums that occupy these niches.
