Finding
SITF has determined this plant to be Chiloschista cf. parishii, not Chiloschista extinctoriformis (Mar 2026). Although this plant closely matches the photos of what is in current circulation as C. extinctoriformis, including the IOSPE, it does not match Seidenfaden's original description, key or drawing found in the Opera Botanica, Vol. 95 (1988). Leonid Averyanov, noted taxonomist, stated this plant was "not extinctoriformis and that they look like C. parishii, a very widespread and extremely variable species". The differences include the porrect side lobes of this plant enclosing the column vs. spread out side lobes of C. extinctoriformis, a pair of tufted, teeth-like calli on the midlobe of this plant, not in the drawing and the spots are not faint, red basally as in Seidenfaden's key. There are close similarities (cf.) to C. parishii in the flower form and color, and two shorter, more rounded, tufted mounds on the lip that are similar, but not quite like those on the lip of this plant.
