SITF confirms this plant as Lepanthes barbelifera (Jul 2026). This species is endemic to Ecuador. It was purchased from Ecuagenera. The unique petals are very distinctive and this plant is a match for the Luer drawing found on the IOSPE and numerous plants shown on the orchidroots.com.

Three flowers and two buds on five inflorescences to 1.4cm on a charming diminutive plant; plant with sixteen leaves broadly rhombic, 0.9 wide by 1.1cm long, margins entire, patterned light green spots on dark green background, leaf stem to 2.5cm, with bracts, plant growing in moss on the outside of a clay pot filled with watersepals lanceolate burnt orange, veined maroon longitudinally; petals tri-lobed, side lobes thread-like, midlobe rounded, red; lip rounded, red, column magenta, anther cap white, pollinia orange; substance relatively firm; texture crystalline; note: orchidspecies.com has an excellent diagram of a dissected flower.
