SITF confirms this plant as Acianthera macropoda (Sep 2026). This plant was identified by Adam Karremans, taxonomist and authority on Pleurothallids. The most visible distinguishing feature of A. macropoda and visible on this plant are the purple-spotted ramicaul sheaths. A similar species, A. montana, differs with ramicaul sheaths that are sold green then turning solid paper-sack brown.

Twenty flowers and 11 buds on five inflorescence to 4.5cm long from the leaf axial, vegetative plant 19cm wide x 24cm long, root tips green; ramicauls erect, terete, medium green, 0.3cm wide x 7.5 cm long, enveloped by 2 short lived, light brown with dark purple spotted sheaths, leaf single, apical, erect, coriaceous, elliptic, acute, slightly infolded at the base, dark green, conduplicate, margins entire, 3.5 cm wide x 7.3cm long; dorsal sepal lanceolate, margins entire, yellow with three maroon veins centrally, stippled maroon on distal one-third and lateral margins; lateral sepals fused, lanceolate, margins entire, translucent pale yellow centrally, lateral margins yellow with two maroon veins on each lateral margin, stippled maroon, apex bifid, sepals loose the maroon stippling as they age; petals linear, appressed to column, translucent pale yellow, yellow midrib; lip lanceolate, margins erose, pale yellow overlaid dark maroon, papillose, side lobes small, maroon; column 0.1cm wide x 0.3cm long, yellow, anther cap yellow; ovary 0.1cm wide x 0.2cm long, yellow stippled maroon, ribbed longitudinally; substance medium; texture glossy; species native to S/SE Brazil; ID by SITF ___________________.Plant came from Floralia Orchids in Brazil
