Finding
SITF confirms this plant as Schoenorchis brevirachis (Jun 2026). This plant was identified based on the key characteristic of lacking a true spur. It agrees with Seidenfaden drawing in the IOSPE with a saccate pouch-like lip and no spur. "Botanically, the base of the lip in S. brevirachis is slightly saccate (pouch-like) or thickened, rather than flat. In some broad orchid keys, this pouch-like recession is technically termed a "saccate spur" or "reduced spur." However, it lacks a true, protruding spur appendage. The lack of a prominent spur, alongside its uniquely short inflorescence rachis, is what Seidenfaden used to differentiate S. brevirachis from other species when he established it in 1992."
