Encyclia marxiana Irene CHM 2025-07-19
Finding
SITF has determined this plant to be Encyclia viridiflora (Jul 2025). This plant was submitted as Encyclia marxiana; however, Kew POWO lists E. marxiana as synonymous with E. viridiflora. The dense panicle, not much longer than the leaves, and the haphazard arrangement of the flowers fits E. viridiflora, as does the shape of the lip. The description of E. marxiana (E. viridiflora) Campacci can be found at: https://scuticaria.com/botanica/Encyclia%20Marxiana.pdf. The IOSPE has the type drawing by Campacci and a photo of Encyclia marxiana which match this plant.
Bulbophyllum skeatianum Orange Microburst CHM 2025-07-19

Dendrobium uncatum 'Zig Zaggy' CBR 2025-07-17
Finding
SITF confirms this plant as Dendrobium uncatum (Jul 2025). Den. uncatum best fits this plant based on plant form and habit. The flower form seems to be somewhat variable, but this plant matches most photos of Den. uncatum in Dendrobium Section Aporum. The article in the 'Wild Orchids of Sumatra" (https://orchidofsumatra.blogspot.com/2013/01/aporum-uncatum-lindl-brieger-1981.html?q=uncatum) has several photos and description of Den. uncatum which matches this plant.
Phragmipedium warszewiczianum var wallisii Hufflepuff HCC 2025-07-15
Finding
SITF confirms this plant as Phragmipedium warszewiczianum (Jul 2025). This plant matches the species. The subspecies var. wallisii is an old remnant from splitting the P. caudatum group, and used to be P. caudatum var wallisii. The variety wallisii is now considered by Kew POWO to be synonymous with the species. The correct name is simply Phragmipedium warszewiczianum.

Nervilia plicata 'Needmore' HCC 2025-07-05
Finding
SITF confirms this plant as Nervilia plicata (Jul 2025). The leaf photos and measurements match that of Nervilia plicata. The flower form and leaf veins are a good match for Nervilia plicata photos found in the orchidroots.com. The leaf color and flower color are variable as shown on the orchidroots photos. This cultivar is much lighter in color than most of the photos. The veins and numerous hairs which cover the leaf surface are a good match to the species. This plant also matches the illustrated drawing of N. dallachyana from the Orchids of Far-Northeastern Queensland by Lewis Roberts as seen in the OW.

Pleurothallis (Acianthera) omissa Bryon CBR 2025-06-28

Phalaenopsis stobartiana Bryon Rinke AM 2025-06-28
Finding
SITF confirms this plant as Phalaenopsis stobartiana (Jul 2025). The flowers are slightly small and the inflorescence is a little short, but unbranched in agreement with Baker & Baker's description in the OW. Veins in the sepals and petals agree with the photos in the IOSPE and in orchidroots. The flower form is exceptional. The species is somewhat variable in color, but the color of this cultivar appears quite common. This was submitted to SITF to validate the species in the OP, even though there were several previous awards to this species, since none of the previous awards were validated by SITF or a qualified taxonomist.

Gongora leucochila (alba) Casa de Campo AM 2025-06-28
Finding
SITF confirms this plant as Gongora leucochila (Alba color form) (Aug 2025). This plant matches the drawings and photo of G. leucochila in Rudolf Jenny's "Monograph of the Genus Gongora" with the exception that the description indicates a maximum inflorescence length of 20 cm and up to 15 flowers. There has not been a valid taxonomic description of an alba form published; however, there is an Award photo of Gongora leucochila 'Woodstream' CHM , which is an albinistic form in the AOS Bulletin, 2012, Vol 7, pg 395 and the award listed in the OP that supports this color form.

Bulbophyllum biflorum Whisper Spot Me AM 2025-06-16
Finding
SITF has determined this plant to be a hybrid of B. fascinator x B. biflorum as presented for judging by the exhibitor (Jul 2025), not Bulbophyllum biflorum. Although heavily dominated by the B. biflorum parent, the flowers are too large to be pure B. biflorum. The lip of B. biflorum is an almost flat, more or less a shovel-shaped blade with a short, broad and rounded crest set way back on the lip. The lip of fascinator has two pronounced ridges running down the outside margins all the way to the tip giving it a deep cleft in the middle with a third raised crest in the middle of the cleft. The lip of this plant has the two pronounced ridges that extend to about half the blade and a third crest, visibly reduced between them. B. biflorum has a helmet-shaped dorsal sepal which projects forward, hoodlike over the column. This plant has a straighter dorsal unlike B. biflorum. B. geminatum was also considered as a species with simularities to the submitted plant. It was once considered synonymous with B. biflorum but is now accepted by Kew. This plant has bloomed mutiple times a year, which suggests it is a hybrid, not a species. Most species bloom only once per year at specific times.
Bulbophyllum putidum Free Spirit AM CHALLENGE 2025-06-16
Finding
SITF does not have sufficient evidence to overturn this old award and will leave it as Bulbophyllum putidum (Jul 2025). This old award was challenged to be B. appendiculatum, not B. putidum, but the existing photographic records preclude definitive resolution on this almost 20 year old award. The award photo of B. putidum 'Free Spirit' AM/AOS does not have sufficient resolution to see the detail in the lip necessary to consider reversing the award; therefore, SITF considers this to be correct as B. putidum.
Acianthera brunnescens 'Patricia' CHM 2025-06-14
Finding
SITF confirms this plant as Acianthera brunnescens (Jun 2025). Thanks to Franco Pupulin who identified this plant as Acianthera brunnescens on site. POWO differs from the IOSPE in that the IOSPE has A. brunnescens as synonymous with Pleurothallis lojae, where as POWO has A. brunnescens as synonymous with Pleurothallis brunnescens Schltr and lists P. lojae as synonymous with Acianthera lojae. SITF agrees with POWO.
