Bulbophyllum singulare Exotica CBR 2026-04-16

Lepanthes domingensis 'M&M' CBR 2026-04-15
Finding
SITF confirms this plant as Lepanthes domingensis (Apr 2026). Note: corrected the spelling to agree with the POWO. Using the key to Lepanthes found in Hispaniola in Ackerman's "Orchid Flora of the Lesser Antiles" the sepals are not visibly denticulate, the dorsal sepal is more than 3mm; these are 4mm, the lip lobes are almost apiculate. This plant keys to L. domingensis. L. dondodii is similar, but the side lobes would have to be truncated and these are not.Trichopilia peruviana 'Sue' CHM 2026-04-11; determined to be T. fragrans
Finding
SITF has determined this plant to be Trichopilia fragrans, not Trichopilia peruviana (Apr 2026).Using the key in the "Orchids of Peru", (https://www.biodiversitylibrary.org/page/2464900#page/26/mode/1up), this keys to T. fragrans. T. fragrans and this plant have: conspicuous pseudobulbs and leaves that have distinct leaf blades; peruviana flowers are very small (sepals less than 2.5 cm long); these are 4.4 cm long; the leaf form is sessile, not petiolate; the pseudobulb shape is flatten and ovoid; not linear-cylindric. There are two species that share these similar traits: T. fragrans and T. grata. In T. fragrans, the crest is a simple, more or less a linear lump sitting on the yellow spot. T. grata differs in that the crest is significantly wider at the top and abruptly terminated at the outer end giving the look of a chopped off triangle (trapezoid). This crest is not noticeably wider at the top than at the bottom, so not T. grata.

Vanda lilacina 'Coldfront' CCM 2026-03-16 Determined to be a hybrid of unknown origin, not V. lilacina.
Finding
SITF has determined that this plant is not Vanda lilacina, but a hybrid of unknown origin (Mar 2026). The flower shape and arrangement on the inflorescence do not agree with that species. Based on overall shape and flower spacing, it favors a nothogenus, such as a Vascostylis.
Brassia aurorae 'Irene' CHM 2026-03-15

Calanthe arisanensis 'Ethereal' HCC 2026-03-10
Finding
SITF has determined that this plant is not Calanthe arisanensis (Apr 2026). In Calanthe arisanensis the entire inflorescence, rachis, bracts and flowers, would have to be densely villous (dense tiny hair-like projections) and there is no evidence of this in the photographs. The correct identification is unknown at this time, but SITF will continue to search for the correct identification and revise this statement once found.
Dendrophylax lindenii 'Glade Spirit' FCC--CHALLENGE 2026-03-07
Finding
SITF has determined that this plant is Dendrophylax lindenii (Mar 2026). It is well within the range of species variability of Dendrophylax lindenii and as such, no changes should be made to the award (Mar 2026).
Tainia dunnii 'Manon Dufour' CBR 2026-03-05 Determined to be Ania hongkongensis.
Finding
SITF determined this plant is Ania hongkongensis, not Tainia dunnii (Mar 2026). The three-keeled callus fits better, as well as the flower size, the inflorescence length, and the number of flowers. The flower color and form is a better match to A. hongkongensis than to T. dunnii. Ania hongkongensis and Ania penangiana are very similar; however, the major difference is in the lip. Ania penangiana has a distinctly trilobed lip and A. hongkongensis does not.
Lepanthes trimerinx 'Julien, Ranga's Bestie' CBR 2026-03-03

Lepanthes pelvis 'Pleurothallidan' CBR 2026-03-01

Gastrochilus sororius 'Bryon' AM 2026-02-27
Finding
SITF confirms this plant as Gastrochilus sororius (Mar 2026). This plant matches the CBR from 2002, which was identified by John Beckner, a former taxonomist at Selby Gardens. It also matches the plant form of the dried specimen photo on the POWO.
Oncidium tipuloides 'Uzhupud' AM 2026-02-23
Finding
SITF confirms this plant as Oncidium tipuloides (Feb 2026). The flowers of this species are borne in a densely branch, upright panicle and the crest is a very good match to this flower. The crest of tipuloides has two downward pointing plate-like wings and a rhomboid, flat disk above them as in this flower. This is a very close match to the photo and description labeled as Odontoglossum tipuloides (Synonym) on the IOSPE.
Masdevallia priscillana 'Father Val Devera' CBR 2026-02-21

Pescatoria coelestis 'Elektra' FCC--CHALLENGE-2026-02-20

Phalaenopsis bellina f. chloracea 'Magic In The Air' CHM 2026-02-18

Lepanthes pubescens 'Pleurothallidan' CBR 2026-02-18
Finding
SITF confirms this plant as Lepanthes pubescens (Feb 2026). Closely matches Luer's drawing of the plant, flower and photo in the IOSPE.
Pholidota dentiloba 'Irene' CHM 2026-02-15

Coelogyne palawanensis 'Irene' CHM 2026-02-15
Paphiopedilum rungsuriyanum 'Riot!' CBR 2026-02-08
Finding
SITF confirms this plant as Paphiopedilum rungsuriyanum (Feb 2026). This is a very distinctive species in color and especially form. It matches the photos shown on the Kew POWO wesite and the photo on the IOSPE. It also matches the photos in the orchidroots.com.
Notylia rhombilabia 'Timothy Henry' CBR 2026-01-28
Finding
SITF confirms this plant as Notylia rhombilabia (Feb 2026). The base of the lip claw to the ends of the side lobes and sidelobes to the tip of the lip forms a rhombus shape for which the species is named. It is an excellent match to the photo in the IOSPE and to the description & illustrations in Bennett & Christenson's, "Icones Orchidacearum Peruviarum". The description details the synsepals with recurved apices and the carinate labellum as distiinguishing characteristics. It also matches the illustration in Schweinfurth's, "Fieldiana" and Dunsterville & Garays's, "Orchids of Venezuela".
Pleurothallis (Acianthera) saundersiana 'Bryon Rinke' CHM 2026-01-25

Leptotes tenuis 'Bryon Kelly Rinke' AM 2026-01-25
Finding
SITF confirms this plant as Leptotes tenuis (Jan 2026). The combination of very terete leaves, the fringe at the tip of the lip and the central keel in the lip match this species. The color can vary from light cream or faint pink. There are several photos in the orchidroots.com of Leptotes tenuis which support this as well.
