A twin-flowered pendulous 12.5-cm inflorescence hanging below the root mass; flowers symmetrical, concolor light cream-yellow, heavily suffused orange; sepals and petals margins translucent; leaves coriaceous, ribbed, 12 cm wide x 46 cm tall; dorsal sepal oblong, erect, distally slightly concave, lateral sepals ovate, concave, apices acute; petals completely reflexed, margins slightly undulate, proximal half overlaid orange; lip hypochile saccate and inflated, fleshy, bottom part flat, horns short, blunt, overlaid deep burgundy almost black, mesochile absent, epichile ovate-triangular, apex apiculate and recurved; column yellow-green, suffused orange-yellow, narrowly winged, wings extending apically with threadlike appendage on each side, suffused light orange, anther cap ivory; substance hard, lip rigid; texture sepals slightly satiny, petals and lip glossy; strong menthol medicinal fragrance noted.--------Plant from Costa Rica // Roots with sharp long spines
